FAQ

What are your lead times?

The speed of shipment is one of the most important services we offer. With dies/materials in stock, no print on base and approved art, the following are average lead times for static print. Unique variable print will take longer.
- Single Panel Labels - 3-5 working days
- 2 part labels - 8-9 working days
- Wrap Arounds - (Pi) Labels™ 6-8 working days*
- Standard Booklet Labels – 10-12 working days
- Lam to Liner Booklet Labels – 11-13 working days
- In stock die cut blank materials – next day
- Reprints – next day if before noon
*wraparounds have other variations that will increase lead time.

Why are your labels more expensive than those produced by non cGMP commercial label facilities?

The frank answer is that clinical trial labels must match our customer’s exact specifications with ZERO DEFECTS. To get zero defects, a very robust system of checks must be set up to ensure that there are no defects on the labels or that defective labels are caught in the process. When you have many more checks and sign-offs, it takes more time and more people. For example, a commercial company may print the labels on a digital press, inspect and ship. Typically, the commercial house is going to do one scan in the process and only if it has the vision equipment to do it. Commercial operations want to touch the labels as few times as possible and ship them out as fast as possible. It's not bad, it's just a different mission. Bertrand Clinical Label, conversely, will have scanned the same roll of labels at least 6 times before the end of the process which doesn't include all the manual checks and verifications along the way. A) Once before press conversion. B) Once during conversion. C) Twice on the vision inspection system. D) Once before variable print. E) Once on an OCR machine. F) Once for reprints if they are needed. Reprints need to be done if defective labels are found. This doesn't include the two types of artwork checks we perform with software. The labels will also get another elaborate multipoint check during the pack out. Each step may need two signatures with the second signature double-checking the step. All of this quality control takes a significant amount of time.
